Grey has never been so green
What is PCR?
PCR is the abbreviation for Post-Consumer Recycled. A technical term for plastic that has already been recycled and is ready to be used again. This plastic can come from plastic bottles or food packaging for example. The products are then separated from other plastics and cleaned from any residue. The recycled plastic is then reprocessed into PCR.
Benefits of PCR:
- Made from recycled plastic waste (PP)
- Enables circularity and waste reduction
- Limits the use of fossil resources
- Reduces CO2 emissions
- Reduces water and energy consumption
- Is robust and durable
Most of our buckets of our One Flooring Range are made with PCR. Our ultimate goal is to have our products in 100% PCR produced packaging. Curious to see what else we've changed when it comes to our packaging? Check the page on the One Flooring Range.
Carbon Footprint Impact
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact your activities have on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced through the burning of fossil fuels and is expressed as a weight of CO2 emissions produced in tons (source: WHO). Manufacturing plays a big role in the size of that footprint. By introducing PCR into our packaging, we have managed to reduce the carbon footprint of our buckets with 15%, and our aim is to decrease that number even further by 2023.
Our grey buckets are made with recycled plastic, but that doesn't have any impact on the contents. New buckets, new identity but the same product.
